I use a multi-faceted approach to teaching music, and low brass instruments in particular. Making music at a high level requires complex physical and mental coordination, and I use a variety of methods to break complex tasks down into simple fundamentals. My methods are borrowed from the pedagogical works of Arnold Jacobs ('Wind and Song'), Donald Reinhardt ('The Pivot System'), Carmine Caruso ('Musical Calisthenics'), and many others. I teach my students to be open-minded and versatile musicians, and several of my former students have gone on to become professional musicians and music educators.
