- Jazz Improvation
Music is like water for me. Studies show that music activates a lot of parts of the brain. With a good teacher comes a good student and I myself have personally experienced that. To be able to get the message across to all students is where I as a teacher feel like I have done my job. It is also very important to understand the student and almost think like them. I would try to get into the individual student's mind frame and with how they function, I would create a schematic that goes best with the student's understanding which will make learning music easy and fun. Its all about bring the passion of music into the student's learning and as I have said before with a good student comes a good teacher.
I have attended BCCM conservatory of music - ARCT Diploma
Currently enrolled in a 2 year jazz diploma at Capilano University.
I have started to learn music at the age of 9 and i quickly grasped the idea of music and its functions. I quickly skipped grades from grade one to grade 5, to grade 7 and to grade 9 all the way until my ARCT completion. I taught and tutored other kids since age of 11 and currently have experience of 8 years in teaching piano. I also teach a little bit of vocals. I have perfect pitch. I studied with one teacher for over 8 years until I successfully got my ARCT Diploma prior to leaving off to University. I have learned the fundamentals of classical music and now am currently undertaking a jazz studies diploma program and hoping to get my PHD in Jazz performance or teaching.. I have done numerous album recordings in paid studio sessions and have had much experience with combo and jazz performance groups.
2016 Kiwanis Jazz award
2016 Berklee Tuition award
2010-2014 BCCM High prize competition awards.
While I was younger and studied in a conservatory of music, I would always ask my teacher for ways to improve as a young teacher myself. I took a lot of learning materials from my teacher whom helped me a lot in developing my knowledge with better understand each student and to be a fun and patient teacher. My teacher is a renewed player and has a very high teaching expertise. I would also come to my class a lot earlier just so I could observe him teaching another student where I would be taking notes and of corse absorbing the knowledge that was given right in front of me.
