- Music Theory (Beginner-Intermediate)
I believe foremost in fostering a love and joy for playing music. Although precision and technique important and necessary, I believe the passion for music is the key to a lifelong appreciation. Plus, if you don't have the joy for what you're doing, you won't be motivated to practise! Music is a form of expression that allows emotional exploration for the individual, connects communities, shares expression and allows creativity...and it also should be fun! I delight in seeing a student, child or adult, playing a piece with love for what they are doing. That is the greatest reward.
I have an honours BFA in Theatre fro York University as well as a Bachelor of Education and Music specialist courses from Wilfred Laurier University.
I started playing piano at age 3, and took lessons privately until I graduated high school. I took RCM exams in piano, voice and theory throughout this time. After being accepted onto the Waterloo District School Board in Waterloo, Ontario (2010), I succeeded in achieving consecutive temporary Music teaching positions leading to a permanent Music teaching at at a public school in 2014. I taught there until I moved to Vancouver in February 2019.
The teachers I had definitely influenced my passion for music and my teaching style, and I am so grateful to have had them.
