- Music Theory (Beginner-Intermediate)
I am a musician with a real passion for teaching. Although I also like to make performance a part of my career, I have always put most of my focus in to teaching others the joys of music making. I have a very personable approach and can adjust my teaching techniques to work alongside each indiviual pupil to achieve their own goals and aspirations - whether that is learning through a graded structure, or just playing for fun. I strive to make my lessons both fun and engaging, whilst advancing the pupil to the best of their ability.
I started teaching from the age of 16, but have made it a large part of my career since 2011. I have over 8 years experience teaching all ages from 3 through to adult, and all levels from beginner to advanced. I have recently located to Montreal from London, United Kingdom where I had a teacher profile of almost 40 students.
I finished my education at Trinity Music College in London, UK, where I passed my bachelor of music degree with a 2:1 in 2005.
I started playing the piano at 5 and the saxophone at 8 and continued my studies throughout my school years. During that time I achieved a grade 8 on the saxophone, grade 6 on the piano and grade 5 in music theory, all under the ABRSM examining board. I was also a student at the Junior Guildhall school of music when I was 17-18. I started studying the clarinet and flute a few years later in college.
I am from very a musical family so music was a large part of my life from a very early age - My father is an international orchestral conductor and I have an aunt and uncle who played cello in the Covent Garden Sinfonia. My sister and two of my cousins have also grown up to become full time musicians. I have a special skill and passion for teaching beginners and also have a lot of experience in teaching music, drama and dance to 0-5 year olds in nurseries across London. I believe the introduction to music making can never start too young! Teaching has been my focus in recent years, but past performance work includes Baritone player in the Aylesbury Dance Band and Saxophone section leader in the London Breakbeat Orchestra.
