I believe music is a vehicle in which musicians can fully express their feelings, thoughts, and voice. I wish to help find and develop my students' musical voice. In order to achieve this, I believe that the student must develop their ears and listening skills, while also learning the techniques and theory needed to be able to fluidly translate what the student is hearing in their head and feeling in their heart onto their instrument.
I started playing guitar at the age of 13 and was self-taught. I have an honours BFA in Music from York University. I studied Jazz Performance, Jazz Composition, Jazz Theory, and Jazz History at my time at York. My private guitar lesson teachers were Lorne Lofsky and Roy Patterson. I studied composition under drummer, Barry Elmes. I was a part of many small ensembles and York University's Jazz Orchestra.
I have been playing and recording in the Toronto Music Scene for over 4 years. I continue to work as a bandleader and sideman. I have played in jazz, fusion, funk, r&b, rock, folk, country, and free improvisation groups.
