I am a firm believer that every student is unique, and their individuality calls for a tailored approach that aligns with their personality and interests. Embracing this philosophy, I recognize the duality of two essential aspects in music learning, as articulated by Pepe Romero - the "Craftsman" and the "Artist."
As a music educator, my aim is to help my students strike a harmonious balance between these two aspects. On one side, we have the "Craftsman," where we focus on technical proficiency, honing skills, and mastering the fundamentals of music. On the other side, we have the "Artist," where we delve into creative expression, exploring emotions, and tapping into the depths of musical interpretation.
By integrating both the "Craftsman" and the "Artist" aspects in our lessons, we can foster an enriching musical experience for the student. I aspire to create a supportive and nurturing environment where students can comfortably navigate both sides simultaneously while having fun along the way.
Since the tender age of six, my journey in music education began, and I can still vividly recall those Tuesday mornings when my mother would take me to the Vancouver Academy of Music for my piano lessons. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for music that has guided me through various stages of my educational journey, including my time at Capilano University and my dedication to the Royal Conservatory of Music.
My thirst for knowledge and growth in music knows no bounds. I am constantly seeking new information and techniques, drawing inspiration from various sources and musical traditions. To me, learning is a never-ending adventure, and I embrace every opportunity to expand my understanding and enrich my musical expertise.
In addition to my performance experience, I have delved into the exciting realm of recording and producing music. I strongly believe that sharing your music and skills with the world is a crucial aspect of being an artist. It is not only a way to showcase your creativity but also a powerful means of connecting with others through your art.
