Learning piano is like learning a language, we learn words and grammar to write sentences, but the purpose is to deliver meanings/feelings. I believe music can be more powerful than languages, and everyone should have access to this expression.
I studied piano from the age of 8 in China. My teachers were classically trained and the training I underwent was rigorous and detailed. My piano teacher in China was a classical pianist trained from New Zealand. I did my level 10 exam from Central Conservatory of Music in China when I was in college studying teaching Mandarin. Then I did my M.A. in Education in Ohio State University while continued learning piano.
I have taught young children and adults in large classroom settings as well as one-on-one tutoring settings on language teaching. I enjoy teaching. Seeing improvements from my students. I participated in Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals Senior Graded Chopin Diploma. I am preparing for my RCM level 10 exam.
