Teaching piano is a very special and serious responsibility and I understand the important role that music plays in the each person's development. As someone who has over 13 years of experience of teaching piano lessons, it is a true honour for me to be able to share and to pass on my knowledge and love for music.
Every person is unique and I model my lesson plan according to the specific needs of every student. I do my best to ensure that the student is able to learn what he/she needs in the most accessible, easiest, and most joyful way. In addition, my goal is to help the student to develop a real love for music while gradually learning theory, solfeggio, and ear training, as well as helping develop strong sight-reading skills, technique and musicality of the performance.
As a native of Novosibirsk, Russia, I started my music education in one of the local music schools when I was six years old. My interest and love for music grew as I continued with classical training. With the encouragement and support of my family and my first piano teacher, I started to quickly improve and I was actively performing at numerous concerts and competitions every year.
After coming to Canada at the age of 12, I continued to pursue my passion for piano performing. As a result, I have completed all RCM levels, Bachelor of Music (Piano) and Master of Music (Musicology) at the University of Ottawa.
Throughout my studies, I have been very lucky to study and to play with great pianists, such as David Jalbert, Boris Lysenko, Andrew Markow and John Perry. I have also been fortunate to research and study musicology with Professor Murray Dineen, Professor Christopher Moore, Professor Julie Pedneault-Deslauriers, and many others.
I have over 13 years of teaching piano lessons full-time. In addition, I also have plenty of accompaniment experience, as I have worked extensively as an accompanist for the last few years, performing with vocalists and instrumentalists at festivals and exams. I am also an experienced theory teacher and I love to teach all RCM theory levels.
