Everyone has different goals when it comes to music and lessons should be catered to those goals, whether it's being able to play your favourite songs in your living room, or performing at the Super Bowl. Technique and theory are best learned in the context of what interests the student, and that's what allows a musician to progress while having fun!
I have a certificate in Jazz Performance from Humber College, and am in my third year of getting a Bachelor of Music from Humber College. The first 2 years are focused on developing a strong understanding and repertoire of Jazz music, and then it transitions to arrangement, composition, production in all styles.
I grew up in a musical household where I had the chance to play with and learn from talented people from a young age. Since my early teens I've been performing with pop, funk, rock, country, and jazz bands. Now I am able to learn from the most accomplished musicians in Canada, who teach and study In Humber's music program. The most important thing is being able to play and learn about music with other people. This is what makes music lessons so valuable.
