I aim to provide each student with a safe and supportive learning environment and to help students discover more about music and themselves through learning concepts of body alignment, musicianship, and healthy technique. Students will build a sense of vocal and body awareness through full body physical exercises targeting muscles responsible for breathing and specific vocal exercises tailored to the student. In lessons, the goal is always to find ease and joy in singing.
I have a Bachelor of Music and a Master's of Music in Vocal Performance from Memorial University of Newfoundland and this spring, I will graduate from the University of Toronto with a Master's of Opera Performance. I studied voice and piano since I was 6 years old and I continue to study piano privately. I study breath mechanics with Jennifer Swan from the Canadian Opera Company and powerlifting with Joshua Kroyer and I love to use what I am learning with them to help my students build a stronger awareness of their own bodies and voices. When I was in highschool, I sang in a heavy metal band and while opera is my focus currently, I still very much love heavy metal.
