As a music teacher, I hold a strong belief that every student, irrespective of their background or capabilities, deserves the opportunity to unearth and nurture their inherent musical talents. I am deeply convinced that music education should serve as a platform for students to discover their distinctive musical identity through academic learning and engaging performances. This journey also involves fostering an appreciation for a wide spectrum of musical expressions.
In my teaching philosophy, I place equal emphasis on musicianship and technical prowess. I adopt a comprehensive approach to music education, encompassing not only skill refinement but also fostering a genuine passion for music and the instrument. Collaboration is a cornerstone; I actively engage with my students by playing alongside them during classes. Beyond technique, my teaching delves into comprehending the subtleties of diverse musical compositions, guiding students to interpret and embrace the artistic essence of each piece.
My curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to encompass a holistic music education, seamlessly integrating practical skills with theoretical knowledge. I emphasize sequential learning objectives spanning music performance, literacy, and harmonizing with other fine arts. Ultimately, my objective is to enrich students' lives through music, providing them with a source of joy and invaluable experiences that only music can offer. I wholeheartedly believe that these musical pursuits become treasured and enduring gifts for every student.
I am classically trained and started my music journey with the piano and flute at the age of 5. I started playing bassoon when I was 11 years old. Between grades 3 and 12, I studied in a music-gifted program.
I have attended the following schools earning the following degrees:
• Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, New Jersey (Doctor of Musical Arts)
• Mannes School of Music, The New School, New York (Master of Music)
• University of Taipei, Taiwan (Bachelor of Music)
