Music is everywhere, and is a universal language that if truly portrayed can reach where words can't. Our bodies move off of vibrations that are on a frequency such as every living thing, to be able to have the gift of interacting learning and understanding the language freedom and love of it is a gift every person should have the chance to experience. I believe every student is different and deserves a unique and individual approach, that connects to them and allow them to tap into that field and language.
I have an associates degree in music performance from Holland College, which included performance classes in jazz, latin, funk, pop, r&b, and reggae, woodwind harmony and improvisation.
I studied both clarinet, alto, and tenor saxophone privately from the age of 8 until the present. My woodwind teacher was Ozzie Hall, now retired but is considered one of the best in The Bahamas, He was likewise relax but with exceptionally high standards. I trained under him for over 10 years, came to Canada and continued learning under the proffessional hand of Ken Fornetrane.
"I spent the majority of my youth playing clarinet. The first song I ever played by ear was The Pink Panther. My Teacher was an gentleman named Ozzie Hall, immigrated from Jamaica to my homeland the Bahamas. My training was primarily at home since I was homeschooled, I can recall the countless hours of practicing and jamming in pure fun not knowing that I was learning a life skill. My strong suit is my ears, although I am proficient in reading and transposing, learning the fundamentals of music from such a young age has allowed me with ease learn most any song by ear, and transpose to any key in just a matter of minutes. I have also worked extensively as a producer creating music for release and jingles for licensing. These experiences have enriched me both as composer artist. I have taught before in my younger years , from high schools to being self employed tutor . It was an experience being the same age or younger than the student s but it was just more encouragement to master my craft so that I can give my students the best.
