Music has been a constant passion in my life for as long as I can remember. It has helped me create lasting friendships, mentorships, and memories that have helped to shape who I am. My goal as an educator, both as a band teacher and private instructor, is to help students explore their creativity and build their confidence through music. Whether it is building proficiency on an instrument, learning to appreciate music as an art form, or finding a new hobby I truly believe that the power of music can be transformative.
My passion for music began in middle school and quickly blossomed in High School where I was actively involved in concert band, jazz band, and choir. I studied Music Education at the University of Victoria. While trumpet was my primary instrument throughout my years of study, I am proficient in all concert band instruments with the clarinet being my secondary instrument. I have been teaching music classes in public schools in BC for the past seven years and during that time have acquired a Masters's Degree in Education. I still perform music at the professional level as much as possible as well as play music with my students every day.
My training has been both formal through my university degrees as well as having lived through my many musical experiences. I have performed professionally in jazz as well as orchestral settings and I take pride in helping my school bands achieve high scores in festival settings.
