I firmly believe that every individual possesses significant musical potential, and music education can profoundly enrich their lives, fostering a deeper appreciation for music.
In my trumpet lessons, I aim to equip students with the essential tools to cultivate their unique sound, technique, and style. Regardless of age or skill level, there is always room for self-improvement. Striking the perfect balance between technique, intonation (ear), and musicality is key to helping students quickly realize their full potential. However, it's crucial to tailor the approach to each person, as the balance between these elements varies from one individual to another.
Mastering the trumpet is no easy feat and demands considerable time and patience. I believe that the results achieved in lessons and practice directly reflect the time, thought, and effort invested by the student. With the right guidance and approach, playing the trumpet can become a truly joyful experience!
I recently graduated with a Doctorate degree (DMus) in Early Music Performance at McGill University (2019-2022). Currently I am finalizing my written research project (“The Russian Horn Orchestra and Its Revivals: Past, Present and Future”) for which I had to travel abroad for the purpose of doing field work and recording a recital that my research required. This research, in a form of a doctoral dissertation, will soon be published at McGill University and Library and Archives Canada as an open-access document.
Initially, I began studying music from a very early age (3-4 y.o.). First, at the Third Street Music school (NY) on flute and piano, then in Russia, I continued my music studies at Kabalevsky Music School (Moscow), Rakov Music School (Moscow) both on piano with extra curriculum in choir singing, solfege, and harmony. In F. Chopin Music School (Moscow), and “C-Jam Club” Jazz Studio (Moscow) I studied on trumpet. I received my Bachelor of Music degree in performance with a qualification in teaching (2010-2014) from Frederic Chopin Moscow State College. My Master of Music degree (2014-2016) I received from Mannes School of Music. I received a Specialist diploma (2013-2018) from Moscow State Conservatory in Early Music and Contemporary Music Performance with qualification in teaching as well. Finally, I also received an Advanced Certificate in Music Performance (2017-2018) from Brooklyn College and a Graduate Diploma (2018-2019) from McGill University.
