Teaching students of all ages has made me an effective educator. I am an excellent communicator and enjoy working in a team setting. I am energetic and enthusiastic within and outside the classroom and attentive to every students’ varying needs.
I have many years of experience as a music teacher including a position at a community college in New York where I was an active participant in improving the quality of the music program. This included directing a guitar ensemble that was invited to perform at various venues in New York City. Theory, solfege, music history and musicality are all subjects in which I have teaching experience. Whether it is individual or group instruction, I always enjoy sharing my knowledge of music and the art of guitar playing.
I began my musical studies at an early age studying with renown jazz guitarists Steve Greene and Frank Rumoro. My interest in classical guitar came when I discovered the playing of Christopher Parkening and Andrés Segovia and then began studying classical guitar with the late Dennis Monroe. In August 2000, I completed my Bachelor of Music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where I studied under the direction of Nicholas Goluses. At Eastman, I also studied jazz with virtuosos Bob Sneider and Gene Bertoncini.
I moved to Montreal, Canada in 2002 where I completed the degrees Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Montreal under the direction of Peter McCutcheon.
I have performed in various ensembles including a flute and guitar duo that toured the United States and many solo recitals at various venues including Keuka College, University of Montreal, Eastman School of Music, Canisius College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, University of Guelph, Tsawwassen Arts Centre, Firehall Arts Centre, Memorial Art Gallery and Syracuse University, to name only a few.
My recordings can be found on all of the main streaming services.
