I believe music is a living phenomenon that helps humans to interact between each other and with their environment. Teaching, learning and/or making music are acts of discovering the world in a sensible and expressive way. I encourage anyone who has the smallest desire to learn and play music to do so.
I believe learning occurs best while having fun, no matter what. Keeping this in mind, having me as your teacher I will try to make the learning environment a non-forced, friendly space where you can feel free to play, bring questions and/or suggestions to improve the class.
As a guide through your learning process, I will always keep in mind the starting point and the goal we want to achieve together, as well as to promote your own development and self-discovering. My essential values are: respect, enjoyment, self-confidence, patience, sensitivity, self-expression and happiness.
As a musician I expect to inspire my students by continually striving to develop and challenge my own abilities as a solo and chamber music performer, to make music with them in class and in recitals.
Last but not least, I consider the learning process will never end for it is a living process.
I have a Master in Music Performance/Pedagogy from Memorial University in Newfoundland, where I also had the opportunity to play and sing for several local choirs.
I studied piano since I was six years old. I then pursued my university degree at the Aguascalientes State University in Mexico, where I had the opportunity to play with youth orchestras.
I have collaborated with instrumentalists, singers, choirs and ballets, as well as performing solo in different venues.
In 2015 I took a Suzuki Philosophy trainning course with Caroline Fraser, and since then my teaching approach is based in kindness and endless care for the learning curve rather than the end goal. I cannot stress enough how important was for me to understand Suzuki's approach to the learning process of music.
