Teaching Philosophy

Music has been an essential interest of mine since the young age of seven, and I have spent over 30 years fully immersed in the music industry. As an international language, music has the power to transcend cultural barriers and connect people from all walks of life.

Through my expertise in music, I strive to impart a deeper understanding of this powerful art form to my students. I firmly believe that music encompasses the interaction of the body, soul, and feelings into a quantifiable expression, and that the process of learning and mastering music can help individuals become better versions of themselves.

I am deeply passionate about music, and I am committed to sharing this enthusiasm with my students. Whether I am teaching a beginner the fundamentals of music theory or helping an advanced musician refine their performance technique, my goal is to instill a lifelong love and appreciation for music in all of my students. For me, music is not just a profession - it is a way of life, and I am excited to continue sharing this journey with others.

Musical Education

I have been fortunate enough to attend multiple schools and earn various degrees, including a PhD in Musicology from Université Paris Sorbonne in France and an MBA in project and operations management from Notre Dame University in Lebanon. I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Communications Engineering from the same institution.

Additionally, I have completed several music courses, including classical piano and music theory at Maison de Musique Fa Dièse in Lebanon. I also earned a Diploma in Choir Conducting from the Music Institute of Lebanon. Despite my academic achievements, my true passion lies in conducting choirs, teaching music appreciation at universities, and founding and leading the music industry department at the University of the Holy Spirit of Kaslik in Lebanon.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have studied opera singing privately for over six years, attended masterclasses with Maestra Elisabeth Norberg Shultz, and taught Oriental and Arabic music to many pupils. As an acoustic and sound design consultant, I have extensive experience in designing studios and working in this vast domain.

I am grateful for the opportunities I've had to pursue my passions and share my knowledge with others. I am excited to continue my journey in the music industry and help others discover the joys of music.

Special Skills and Training

Although I have extensive experience and education in the musical domain, my interests have led me beyond performance and academia. I have spent considerable time orchestrating music and exploring free online courses about pipe organs from around the world. I am also fascinated by instruments manufacturing and have developed a deep admiration for the craftsmanship and artistry involved in creating musical instruments. While I continue to share my knowledge and passion for music through teaching and conducting, I am also eager to continue exploring different aspects of the industry. Whether it's designing and building instruments, mastering new techniques in music production, or pursuing new avenues of musical expression, I am excited to expand my horizons and contribute to the ever-evolving world of music.

Policies

1. Cancellation Policy

Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy

A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy

Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy

Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period

There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
