I began Teaching in 2019 after taking the Mohawk music Prep program and am going into my 3rd year in the applied music program for Bass.
I love teaching as it lets me use my experience to inform others and help guide them on a logical and hopefully smooth musical journey. My time in the mohawk college music program has certainty informed my teaching ability. The Pedagogy course which discusses teaching theory as well as put's you into practical teaching situations via a co-op with local middle schools.
My time at college has opened up my musical vocabulary exponentially as well as my ability to preform on both bass and guitar. Music is a language and I believe I am fluent enough in the language enough to help people achieve there goals in understanding and developing there voice on the instrument of there choosing.
I am currently attending Mohawk College(3rd year) for applied music
throughout my college experience I have taken such courses as :
-Music Improvisation
-Music History
-Pedagogy (study of teaching)
- Contemporary Harmony
-Tonal Harmony
-Music Technology
-Phycology
-Counterpoint
all of these courses have informed my ability to understand music theory and performance as well as teaching music as a language itself
-Deans List(over 80% average) 2021 & 2022
The majority of my 15 years of my main instrument guitar has been playing with groups of people. In bands , other community music groups and assisting with recording music locally, lots is learned in the process of creativity. Learning how to work with different people/personality types and learning how to communicate with all of these people has been my biggest take away from these shared experiences. One the more important skills I have developed during this period in my is being able to communicate the same idea in different ways .
