Music is a way for me to communicate, to express the feelings and emotions that are beyond the spoken languages. It builds relationships between the performers and listeners. My goal is to build relationships with my students and encourage them to do so with others through music. I also hope that my students can learn about themselves more through learning music.
I have a BA in music specialized in percussion from Trinity Western University, as well as grade 8 percussion from the Associated Board
of the Royal Schools of Music.
Eventually I began composing for films, art projects, and ensembles locally and in Hong Kong when I was studying at Trinity Western University.
I started learning piano at the age of 7, and switched to drum set when I was 14. I studied under Almond Yeung, who is a professional jazz drummer from Hong Kong. I started writing my own songs around the same time as I picked up guitar, bass, and piano again. As a composer, the greatest experience I ever had was conducting the TWU orchestra to perform my original composition in March 2023. Besides that, I still continue to polish my skills as a drummer and percussionist by joining concert band, jazz combo, and theatre productions such as Annie and Bright Star.
