Being able to be a part of, and help people achieve their goals is part of why I fell in love with teaching. As I grew older and realized music is more than notes on a page and songs to our ears. It is about experiencing and SHARING joy, and being part of a community that everyone is welcome to engage in.
Setting goals to push you further as a musician is integral to my lessons, but I always make sure to celebrate each step along the way with all my students, no matter how big or small. I always strive to create a nurturing environment where my students can relax, celebrate their achievements, and feel like they can talk to me as if they are my equal.
Attended the University of Western Ontario and graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Music Education. During my undergraduate I studied under Tina Yanchus, Master's graduate from The Juilliard School. Under her tutelage, I developed my musicianship and performance skills, as well as my personal education philosophy.
Having done my bachelor's in music education, I am well-versed in educational psychology, philosophy, and pedagogical methods.
3x 1st place ORMTA festival (Brampton-Bolton-Caledon branch), W.H. Munn Scholarship (Awarded to a pianist studying music education), David Greenslade Scholarship (Awarded to a pianist with an outstanding academic record), Central Peel Secondary School Music Award
My passion for teaching and getting to work with others came slowly through my childhood as my parents enrolled me in seemingly every extracurricular under the sun. Getting to experience and cherish that sense of community led me to teaching private music lessons as my first part-time job in high school. While working with children of all ages I continued to develop my own skills, recently completing my RCM 10 practical, Harmony, and History exams. Throughout my undergrad, I volunteered at band camps where I would help kids improve their technical and musicianship skills. My passion for music, and music education has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember, and it is this passion that drives me to share the joy of music with all my students.
