It is important for students to be active participants in their own learning. The three main things I value and try to encourage in all of my lessons are student-centered learning environments, goal-oriented lessons, and students gaining the ability to problem solve and think for themselves. This is why I as an educator strive to adapt to the individual needs of each person I am working with to create an environment where students feel heard, safe, and excited to express themselves and explore the world of music.
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Queen’s University, which included performance classes in musical theatre and classical voice. I am beginning my Master of Arts in Music Education from McGill University in September, 2023. I have been studying voice privately since the age of eight and studied piano from the age of five to eighteen. I have taken many courses in theory, ear training, music history, diction, and vocal technique through Queen’s University.
