I believe that music is something that is so diverse and unique, whether we realize that or not sometimes. The way that sound is able to interact with one another in our daily lives and surroundings is something that I think we take for granted. Music isn't just picking up an instrument and playing a song- it's about appreciation the way the functions of sound interact with us and with the elements surrounding us that makes it so special and gives us purpose. Purpose is exactly what I strive to teach to my music students- my students can expect that regardless of what their purpose in pursing music is, that I will ensure that my lessons are as meaningful as possible so that students are satisfied and are able to meaningfully connect and enjoy the beauty and pleasures of music.
I have been playing music since I was the age of 5 years old. I first began playing piano by taking private lessons, in which I continued to do so up until I was 17. I have also been playing the French Horn since I was 12 years old. My musical journey has taken me to performing in many bands, including the Edmonton Catbolic Schools All City Band and All Star Jazz Bands, the MacEwan Youth Orchestra, and the University of Alberta Symphonic Wind Ensemble. I am furthering my musical knowledge currently by pursuing a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education combined degree, with the goal of being able to work within the education system and help encourage the next generation of students to pursue a passion and career in the arts.
I have been trained in the Royal Conservatory Music in both Theory and in Playing, reaching up to level 9. I have also had the pleasure to work as a tutor within a local company in Edmonton, where I provided piano and drum lessons to students of all different ages. It has been a great opportunity for me to grow as a leader and to be an effective and organized mentor for students.
