Singing can be an uncomfortable and intimidating experience for some people. It is my absolute joy to help students find their voice and let it emerge. I believe that each person has a unique voice and my passion is to assist my students in discovering their own unique voice and individuality through music. My goal as a vocal instructor is to provide my students with the tools that they need to enhance and grow their instrument. I love to support my students on their musical journey—whether that may be competing in competitions, taking examinations, preparing for post secondary education, prepping for performances, or singing as a hobby. I am here to help you achieve your dreams and goals.
I always start each lesson with warm-ups and then we dive into repertoire. Ear training and music theory are core components to each lesson. Learning how to properly use your voice and growing it to its full potential is my focus.
I have a Bachelor of Arts Majoring in Music and a specialization in vocal performance from Trinity Western University. While attending TWU I had the pleasure of being a chorister in two of their ensembles—chamber choir and chamber singers in which I performed a number of solo selections. I successfully held both my junior and senior recitals, singing a total of nineteen pieces for my senior recital. Both of my recitals incorporated numerous vocal selections sung in Italian, French, German, Latin, and English. I have worked under the leadership of vocal instructors Chad Louwerse and Alison Nystrom. I have also sang with professional choirs such as Arcady and The Kamloops Symphony Choir.
Throughout my undergrad degree I was selected by the music faculty to be the recipient of the top music scholarship in my program. I’ve done a considerable amount of music festivals with the Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival, winning in 2010 the Donna Chapin Crystal Rose Bowl and was chosen for provincials in musical theatre in both 2009 and 2010.
I have taken numerous Royal Conservatory of Music examinations in voice, piano, and music theory in which I was awarded with distinction on multiple exams.
