There is no better feeling than being part of a musical journey for a student, watching their understanding and confidence grow. I love finding the music that inspires each student. I sincerely believe that each student is musical and only needs the chance to express it. I am student focused in terms of lesson planning. I can adapt lessons to the student, whether they want to study classical, jazz, pop or topics such as songwriting or composition.
Whether you are a true beginner or want to shake off the rust of decades, I believe I can support every student.
My formal music education was completed during my Master of Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University, where I specialized in improvisational music psychotherapy. In my program, multiple professors described me as a strong improviser. During my time at Laurier, I guest lectured several times on the blues and jazz at a graduate level, thoroughly enjoying each occasion.
As a trained and accredited music therapist, I have the skills of a pianist and the understanding of emotions that can be brought on through music. I am proud of the fact that my lessons are tailored to the needs of the student. The flexibility and depth of my training and experience allow me to support my student's goals fully.
