I believe music is such an important skill for everyone. Though the world may be divided on beliefs, geographical locations, and different languages, music is universal. Music is made of three things: Life, passion, and love. With just a pluck of a violin string, a vibrating note on a grand piano, and a singer opening their throat to let their sound come through, everyone understands the feeling that comes when we hear the vibrations and frequencies that music is made of. It allows us to embark on journeys of emotions, pushing us to feel. When a performer is onstage, they are connecting with each and every one of the audience members even if they aren’t speaking a word. Music is the only language everyone in the world can understand, because it speaks to the heart.
In my lessons I will start with small warm ups and breathing exercises as well as fun music games, ear training, sight singing, solfege and scales. (This is important for piano and voice students alike) I will also open a discussion for interested students on music appreciation and history. In my studio and lessons, there is no pressure, stress or anxiety. Everyone can move at their own pace with which they are comfortable. Previous training and skills are not required for lessons with me. It is a learning process and journey, and I want everyone to have fun and learn. I will also explore different genres of music such as Musical Theatre/Broadway/Disney, Jazz Standards, Pop, Baroque, and Classical. For example, a student can choose a piece they connect with and would like to learn and we will experiment together, starting slow and building up the skill sets.
Anything else they are interested in, I will be happy to accommodate.

I spent my childhood experiencing and performing various genres of music such as Disney musicals, classical Broadway and musical theatre productions, classic Jazz Standards, Baroque, Classical Voice, and Opera. My training was primarily in private studios along with participation in performance choirs. I also hold a performing arts certificate for classical and musical theatre studying the roles of Shakespeare’s Ophelia, Juliet, and Lady Macbeth. I have also been an acting teacher and mentor for a small Performing Arts Group in Newfoundland. As well as classical theatre, I have performed in operatic choruses, and musical theatre choruses and small roles such as Fiona in Shrek! The Musical, Anna in Pirates of Penzance, Christine Daae and Sophie in scene studies of Mamma Mia! and Phantom of the Opera. Most recently, I performed for young children’s birthday parties as a variety of Disney Princesses including Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Belle, and Anna from Frozen.
