Growing up learning and enjoying music, I believe that music is a fundamental skill that anybody should possess. Not only does partaking in music grant you deeper enjoyment of the world around you, it is as integral as learning a new language. My lessons put great emphasis on the understanding of music as a whole, rather than simply focusing on the notes on the page.
Enjoyment of the music played is essential to a healthy learning environment, as intrinsic interest in the pieces means you're willing to put that much more effort into practicing and learning.
To me, music is a lifelong hobby and the skills you learn will take you far. And I will make sure that the time you spend learning with me will be delightful and fulfilling.
I have a BA in Saxophone Performance from New York University, which includes performance requirements in classical music as well as music theory and history.
I began studying piano at the age of 6 and saxophone at the age of 11. Throughout this time, I underwent rigorous training with esteemed North American performers such as Paul Cohen and Julia Nolan, who is a professor at UBC and has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Top Score in ARCT RCM Saxophone
Having started studying music at a young age, I have attained DipLCM in piano performance and the top score with RCM with my ARCT in saxophone throughout high school. I also went on to perform with top bands across North America such as the Canadian National Youth Band and Boston University Tanglewood Wind Ensemble. These experiences allow me to teach my lessons through different approaches. I am also a music producer in my free time, having made tracks that have been used in popular fashion commercials. With my experience, I bring to the table a very modern look on a sometimes antiquated subject.
