Sharing my passion for music and nurturing the same in others is an integral part of my teaching. I believe that music is an essential part of every person, and it has the potential to create lifelong memories, skills, hobbies and more. I teach a very passion-driven curriculum, where every student learns above all else to love music and to love learning.
I believe in the fundamental importance of vocal technique in the development of vocalists both young and old, ensuring that students take care of their voices and are able to sing without pain or discomfort for their whole lives.
I recently graduated from CapU with a BMus in Jazz Education as a voice major. I've also been through classical training for several years in both piano and voice, as well as jazz training in voice and percussion. I have sung with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions, and have extensive performance experience in both small and large groups.
I studied classical voice under a Finnish opera singer for the better part of my childhood before moving to Vancouver. I have also contributed my voice and songwriting abilities to multiple studio albums recorded in the Okanagan, and my diverse approach to songwriting has helped many budding songwriters feel comfortable in their art form. I have participated in musical theatre productions across Canada, including multiple at CAMMAC in Quebec. I have taught both voice and composition to students from ages 6 to 60+, and I've enjoyed every minute of it!
