In my experience, I have learned that communication, encouragement and compassion are just as essential elements to imparting musical knowledge as technical skill. I enjoy incorporating solfege and games into my teaching, and model concepts according to the Kodály philosophy. I am a patient and versatile teacher who is dedicated to guiding my students to reach their best potential. I understand each student is different and pride myself on providing a tailored and comprehensive musical education utilising a variety of approaches. While I believe the classical repertoire provides a crucial backbone to musical education, I proactively seek out contemporary material to engage students’ interests and inspirations.
Having graduated with a Music Education BA degree from Ireland’s most prestigious music conservatoire and university (Royal Irish Academy of Music / Trinity College Dublin), I have always strived for not only high quality but enjoyment in the music I teach. As a part of my degree, I had the opportunity to study at the Kodály Institute in Hungary, which solidified my understanding of music as an embodiment of the self and experience and honed in on musicianship. I received my Piano Pedagogy Diploma (ARIAM) with honours in 2018. Notable teachers include Réamonn Keary, Yasmin Folini, Jean Archibald and Marie Moran.
