Music has been an essential part of my life, and has helped me to not only develop a skill but to discover more about myself and develop valuable life skills. In my teaching I strive to do the same for my students, helping them discover the joy of music and the many ways it helps us to live fulfilled, impactful lives.
I have a B.Mus. from the University of Lethbridge and a M.Mus. from the University of British Columbia, both in bass trombone.
During my studies I took classes on music education and teaching, and put what I learned from these classes into use by taking opportunities to teach private lessons whenever possible.
My mother was not only an avid clarinetist but also a lifelong educator, teaching math and music at the middle and high school level. Thanks to her I have learned much about how to effectively teach students at all skill levels, and how to best prepare them for the next steps in their education.
