My love for music began at an early age, always singing along to the radio in the car, being actively involved in youth orchestras and choirs and taking piano lessons. From the age of twelve something changed, and I never had to be told to practice again. It was at that moment I realized music was a way of life, and I could not live any other way. As a teacher, I tailor my lessons to the needs of each student, working towards their goals and interests. I am also careful to include the parents in the decision-making process, so that steady progress is achieved. I encourage students to perform regularly, because sharing beautiful music with family and loved ones is the heart of our purpose. Whether through recitals, festivals, or at-home performances, I ensure that my students have opportunities to share their progress and the music that they love.
I received my Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University, studying under Dr. Heather Taves and Anya Alexeyev. Currently, I am attending the University of Manitoba for my Master in Music Performance, studying with Dr. Judy Kehler-Siebert and Dr. Laura Loewen.
I began my private piano studies at the age of four until entering university. My teachers were two Canadian classically trained pianists, one of whom was also an operatic soprano, and one who obtained an Master of Music in piano performance from the University of Toronto. I also studied with a Bosnian pianist, who was rigorous in his instruction, and developed my love for the instrument.
Additionally, I have significant experience as a choral singer, orchestral bass player, and accompanist/coach.
