I believe that music is an essential part of life. I have been surrounded by it my whole life and it's my goal to bring the comfort and joy through music to others.
I am open to students of all ages of any skill level. I believe it's important to enjoy learning so I teach through a combination of pieces, genres, exercises, and techniques that aim to make lessons and practice more fun so you'll want to keep coming back to it.
I have an honors BA in Music from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke during which I received a performer's certificate. I got my master's degree at Arizona State University in Ethnomusicology and am now at U of Alberta for my PhD.
I have been playing the flute for 17 years and took private lessons from the age of 12 until I finished my degree in 2021. I started playing the saxophone in high school and played in jazz band, marching band, and pep bands. My experience also includes playing in symphony orchestras and competing with solo repertoire.
