Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, my role is to help student to engage in the music world and to provide a create and joyful atmosphere for students to study and grow.

It is essential for learning to take place and be within this atmosphere so that students are not only free to be themselves, but free to make mistakes.

This way, mistakes happen in a friendly and forgiving environment where students can learn from them with a teacher’s support.

The biggest gift I can give my students as an educator is a completely student-centered type of studying.

In order for students to learn, they must be involved in their own education, with personal speed, programs and methods, which assists in learning efficiently. The clear results with constant motivation is a key point here.

The best learning happens when it is cooperative and collaborative in nature, letting students learn from each other and become more actively engaged in their learning.

I plan to take into account my students’ interests and learning styles as I teach, as well as provide students with multiple means of demonstrating their learning including mini recitals, video-concerts, their own blogs, recitals inside malls and guest’s homes and others.

Ultimately, my role as a music educator is to prepare students to be productive members of society. Through music, I will engage students in activities that require them to be creative, disciplined, flexible, and work cooperatively with others.

I believe that my role is to educate students about other cultures so that they learn to see the world through another’s eyes and can appreciate other ways of thinking and living.

Special Skills and Training

When I was a child, I was watching my mother and father singing together. Being the fantastic singer, my father was the virtuous guitar player and I was dreaming that in future I could not only sing, but also play to some musical instruments, as my parents. Later, at the age of 16, performing Grieg’s piece at Philharmonic Hall In Belarus, I remembered my parents who was helped me in my musical career by just their own examples. I was participating in multiple concerts in Belarus, UAE and other countries as a performer with Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Medtner , Dvorak and other great classical and contemporary composers. I was additionally trained as the singer and pianist courses in ArtGrand school ( Minsk, Belarus) in 2021-2022 years. In 2023 years I took improvisation course by Canadian Professor Josee Allard with a certificate.

Policies

1. Cancellation Policy

Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy

A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy

Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy

Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period

There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
