I remember being a shy child, somewhat isolated from the world. My life was summed up in going from home to school, doing homework and watching television. To my surprise, everything changed when I turned 11. Suddenly someone put a guitar in front of me and asked me: would you like to play it? The introverted boy suddenly had a certainty: he wanted, more than anything in the world, to learn.
My path as a musician has led me to understand that music heals, saves lives, but also that anything that is learned leaves a mark as good or as bad as the person who teaches it. I didn't have many good teachers, but I will never forget the ones who really guided me and taught me something more about human nature.
As a teacher, I deeply believe in the power of listening, understanding, and approaching each student with a unique look at their learning needs and preferences. I like to promote constant and autonomous practice, combined with ear training in order for students to become self-sufficient and confident musicians. Both children and adults will have the opportunity to enjoy calm, interesting and pressure-free classes where they can always feel in a safe space to learn and simply be.
My musical education began with private teachers at the age of 12, where I learned the principles of music theory and guitar. From there, I complemented my education through the experience of playing with various groups as a guitarist and drummer. In 2021 I completed the first year of the undergraduate degree in Music at the Incca University of Colombia, where I deepened my knowledge of music theory and basic piano, among others, and I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy at the Canadian Mennonite University. Currently, my main focus as a guitarist is on genres such as rock, pop, blues and jazz, in addition to some knowledge of classical guitar and traditional Colombian music.
