It is a privilege and joy to be entrusted with the role of teaching and forming musicians. Listening, collaborating with, and guiding the goals of each student, I foster an environment that values diligence and rigour with encouragement and compassion. My approach to teaching starts with fostering an attitude of capability and motivation. I am extremely attentive to the physical elements of playing (e.g., posture, relaxation, hand position), as a strong foundation in this assures freedom in technique and liberty in playing for life. Intellectually, I also guide the students to understand music from its theoretical and structural angles. I believe very strongly in establishing healthy and effective practice techniques which allow the student to work independently. A sure, focused, and intentional process is critical; I do not believe in hastily rushing and risking the quality of the learning process to achieve a higher quantity of seeming results.
Teaching is my personal vocation, and there is no joy greater than sharing moments of discovery and achievement with students.
Having been born into a very musical family, I pursued degrees at the University of Toronto and the Université de Montréal: a Bachelor of Music (piano & theory), Master of Music (harpsichord performance), and Artist Diploma (organ). I have studied composition, voice, and choral conducting privately, as served as an Organ Scholar in Toronto.
