I believe in being a well-rounded student. Music is such a broad field and it's difficult to know what resonants with you if you don't try multiple styles and genres.
I also believe that having experience in creating and composing music provides a new insight in how you perform your repertoire.
I have a Bachelor of Music from UofT in Voice and Composition. A few of my teachers include Dr. Abigail Richardson-Schulte, Dr. Darryl Edwards, Bracken Burns, and Laura Tucker.
Outside of my formal training, I have a self-titled rock band, the Chiara Urban Band! I composed all the material we perform and fully manage it, so I have quite a bit of insight in the commercial music scene, as well!
These are the highlighted venues I've performed in in Toronto; the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts (COC and National Ballet of Canada Orchestra), Roy Thomson Hall (Concreamus Chamber Singers and Toronto Symphony Orchestra), the Horseshoe Tavern, the Lula Lounge, and the Redwood Theatre.
I am a huge music theory and history nerd! I can teach these to RCM ARCT. I have had various students in the past; pop voice, songwriting, classical voice, choirs, classical composition, and beginner piano. As a working musician, I have a great insight and network in primarily the classical and pop realms in Toronto.
