I fully believe that music is integral to education and is just as important as core subjects learned in school. It is not only a hobby, but it impacts how we feel and embrace the world. We can all play music, no matter what age. Learning does not stop at any age; we can always embrace new knowledge. Music requires the full involvement of the entire body, from the first breath to the last note. My lessons will involve breathing exercises that require physical involvement to promote healthy playing.
Mistakes are bound to happen, and I believe that at any age, mistakes will happen and that's okay! I provide a stress-free environment that only wants to see you have fun and enjoy playing music. No matter the age, everyone is treated with respect.
I attended the following schools, earning the following degrees:
- University of British Columbia - Bachelor of Music
- University of British Columbia - Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Music Education
I graduated from the Dual-Degree Music and Education program at the University of British Columbia, which includes large, small and solo performances.
I studied trumpet privately from the age of 10 until the age of 22. My teachers were classically trained and studied under Vincent Cichowicz. My teacher's philosophies follow the Chicago style of teaching, and my teaching is modelled after that. In addition to my musical experience with the trumpet, I sang with the University Singers ensemble at the University of British Columbia, played in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and sang Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver Chamber Choir.

I went to an art school and majored in music from grade 6 to grade 12. I spent countless hours in different ensembles, such as choir, chamber choir, orchestra, jazz band and concert band. In University, I was in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Winds and University Singers ensemble. I love to sing as well and have a strong singing background, whether that is in solo situations or in an ensemble. My training was influenced by my experiences with the wide variety of ensembles and nurtured my love for all styles and kinds of music. I have also worked as a band clinician for high schools and have experience teaching trumpet and theory.
