My goal as a teacher is to help the student develop the tools they need to embark on their own musical journey.I believe that everyone can become a great musician, songwriter or composer, but every method of teaching does not work equally well for every student. This is why I believe the most important job of a teacher is to figure out what every individual student needs, so that they can grow into the musician they want to be.
I have a Bachelor of Music from Humber College, which included classes in performance, music theory, ear training, composition, arranging and music production. Before transferring to Humber, I also completed 2 out of 3 years of an advanced diploma in music at Mohawk College, which included both classical and jazz theory, performance, ear training, counterpoint and arranging.
During my last year of Humber College I managed to switch my major instrument from voice to composition, being the only student to take private lessons in composition. I have written music for short films, as well as performance pieces in classical and jazz idioms.
