I'm very passionate about teaching music and find it most important that my students understand music.
I like to say I "teach music, not songs" because even if a student isn't really interested in learning theory, or reading notes - I still try to express how important theory and rudiments are.
It's quite possible to become a great musician without these things, I would just like to equip my students with as many tools for success as possible, while ensuring they are well rounded players with experience in multiple genres.

Vocal Teacher Training Certification - The Vocal Compass 2.0 I have a unique approach to theory which is based in an alternate method to the circle of fifths. There is a lot of pattern recognition and memorization to begin. I find this method very useful and it helps visualize theory concepts discussed - while arranging the information learned in a convenient, easy to remember chart. I always compare this way of learning to basic math, as it really just breaks down to "1's and 2's". I also tend to use abstract techniques in my own playing, combining fingerstyle, percussive guitar elements, unique tunings and more.
