Teaching Philosophy

My primary approach to teaching is to inspire students to take up music. In the early stages, I try to ignite their passion by playing the piano for them, demonstrating what can be achieved through examples of beautiful music and effortless virtuosity. Throughout the teaching process, I pass on the piano skills I’ve developed over 34 years of active musical experience and 14 years of teaching.

Musical Education

1991-1997: Odessa Specialized Musical School named after P.S. Stolyarskiy (Classical Piano)
1997-2000: Odessa Specialized Musical School at the State Musical Academy named after A.V. Nezhdanova (Classical Piano)
2000-2004: Odessa Music College (Jazz Piano, Teacher, Conductor, and Head of the Jazz Orchestra)
2004-2008: Odessa State Musical Academy named after A.V. Nezhdanova - Bachelor’s Degree (Classical Piano, Teacher)
2009-2010: Donetsk State Musical Academy named after S. Prokofiev - Master’s Degree (Jazz Piano, Teacher)

Awards and Distinctions

I have participated in numerous jazz and academic competitions as a pianist, as well as vocal competitions, many jazz festivals, and various music projects. I am a two-time first-place winner of the Rostislav Kabanchenko Piano Competition. In my youth, I was known as Odesa's Robertino Loretti and, as a vocalist, won the Grand Prix at a prestigious competition held at the Odesa Opera Theater in Ukraine. Following this success, I toured France as a choir soloist. After turning 14, my voice changed, so I shifted my focus entirely to piano, pursuing both academic and jazz education. My project was selected as one of the 9 finalists in the prestigious international competition “Do # Dj Junior,” where I was recognized as the best keyboard player.

Special Skills and Training

I have knowledge of the music editors "Logic" and "Mainstage" (working with keyboard sounds). I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful bass player, a student of John Patitucci, Jeremy Sitszer (USA), and I also played in the international orchestra of the magnificent trumpeter Vaughn Roberts (New Zealand). During that collaboration, I performed alongside an experienced trombonist from the Frank Sinatra orchestra. I also played a concert with world-class bass player Anton Davidyants. Additionally, I successfully performed at a concert at the conservatory in Esbjerg (Denmark), where I was invited by the head of the jazz department, saxophonist Mark Bernstein (USA), a Berkeley graduate. I continue to perform in concerts for both large and small audiences in different cities and countries. By 2023, through my musical activities, I’ve traveled around the globe, visiting all continents and numerous countries, which has profoundly influenced my personality, worldview, and creative thinking.

Policies

1. Cancellation Policy

Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy

A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy

Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy

Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period

There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
