Teaching Philosophy
As a violin instructor, my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has the potential to excel and find joy in music, regardless of their starting point. I strive to create a learning environment that is both challenging and supportive, where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity while developing technical proficiency.
Holistic Approach to Learning
I believe in teaching the violin holistically, integrating technique, musicianship, and personal expression. My lessons are structured to develop a strong technical foundation, emphasizing proper posture, bowing techniques, and intonation. Alongside technical skills, I encourage students to understand the emotional depth of the music they are playing, fostering an appreciation for the artistry involved in performance.
Individualized Instruction
Every student is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and learning styles. I tailor my teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each student, whether they are a beginner learning the basics or an advanced player refining their technique. By setting personalized goals, I help students build confidence and achieve success at their own pace.
Inspiring a Love for Music
My goal as an educator is not only to teach students how to play the violin but also to instill a lifelong love of music. I introduce a wide range of repertoire, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, allowing students to explore different genres and styles. I also encourage participation in ensembles, recitals, and community performances, which helps students develop their performance skills and experience the joy of sharing music with others.
I am working towards Doctoral of Musical Arts at Western University, which included pedagogy, performance classes and music research.
I studied violin since the age of 4 and half until now. I studied under Professor Annette Barbara Vogel, and the training I underwent included RCM, Suzuki. I participated in a variety of music festivals such as in Italy, Brazil, United States and across Canada to hone my skills.
Vancouver International Competition (Finalist)
Jfest International Competition (third place)
I spent my childhood attending a variety of concerts, classical, jazz, country, contemporary music. Because of this, I am very open-minded to a variety of music genres and would love to explore the different variety of music with my student. I have obtained my ARCT before heading to university, and have taught students to successfully obtain their RCM certificate with 100% pass rate. I have attended a variety of national music festivals such as National Academy Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, Round Top Festival, Opera festival in Italy, and toured six cities in Brazil with Magisterra Soloists. These experiences not only enriched my learning as a performance musician, but also as a teacher, in which I had the chance to explore a variety of repertoire.
