Music is a universal language, capable of expressing what words often cannot. As an educator, I believe that fostering a deep understanding of music theory is essential to becoming not just a proficient musician, but a confident and creative one. Theory is the roadmap that helps students navigate their musical journey—it opens doors to improvisation, composition, and a richer connection with their instrument.
However, music is more than notes on a page. I strive to create an environment where curiosity and creativity thrive. My approach balances technical skills with the joy of discovery, encouraging students to explore their own musical voices. I believe in meeting students where they are, nurturing their strengths while guiding them through challenges with patience and support.
Through interactive lessons, practical exercises, and engaging activities, I aim to make music theory accessible and exciting. I want my students to see theory not as a set of rigid rules, but as tools that unlock their potential, whether they’re interpreting a classical sonata, composing an original piece, or jamming with friends.
Ultimately, my goal is to inspire lifelong learners who not only understand music but feel empowered by it—musicians who can pick up an instrument, read a score, or create something new with confidence and passion.
I am a passionate music educator with over 10 years of teaching experience across Ontario. My love for piano and music theory has been the driving force behind my teaching philosophy, inspiring students to connect deeply with their instruments and understand the language of music.
I have attained the following degrees and certifications:
Bachelor of Arts in Music from Laurentian University
Advanced Diploma in Music Performance from Cambrian College
Kindermusik Certified Instructor
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and skill levels, helping them build strong foundations in both practical performance and theoretical understanding. I believe that a solid grasp of music theory not only enhances technical skills but also fosters creativity and confidence in every musician.
Whether in the classroom, private lessons, or group settings, I strive to create an engaging, supportive, and inspiring environment where students can thrive. My mission is to share the joy of music and empower my students to reach their fullest potential.
In addition to my focus on piano and music theory, I have a diverse background in multiple instruments and musical disciplines. I have studied brass instruments and violin and received formal training in classical guitar. I also played bass guitar in a jazz band for many years, gaining valuable experience in improvisation and ensemble performance. I have been a part of choirs throughout my life, which has deepened my understanding of vocal techniques and harmony. Beyond performance, I have published music theory books and created educational resources for teachers and students, blending creativity with structured learning tools. This wide-ranging experience allows me to bring a comprehensive, well-rounded approach to my teaching, helping students explore various instruments, styles, and aspects of music.
