Putting your child (or yourself!) in music lessons is an invaluable way to grow their confidence, focus, creativity, and determination. While a guitar lesson might not seem life changing from an outside perspective, it gives students the chance to learn something new, fail, make mistakes, learn, and grow in a safe and fun environment. As a shy kid, I was hard set against the idea of taking lessons, but once I started I couldn't stop. For the first time I was able to express myself without fear of judgement and I gained confidence through learning new skills and performing. My philosophy above all else is that music is for everyone. Through kindness, patience, and hard work, I would love to help you or your child experience the joys and possibilities that learning an instrument can bring.
I am currently in my third year at Queen's University, working towards my Bachelors of Music Theatre. As a child I fell in love with playing guitar and quickly enrolled in lessons. My passion for the instrument grew over the years and I started teaching guitar and ukulele at the age of 14 at the Squamish Academy of Music. I also have a passion for singing. I trained in both classical voice and musical theatre, before deciding that I wanted to pursue musical theatre post secondary. At Queens University I am learning skills to make me a well rounded, versatile, and reliable performer, while also participating in a music education course where I have the opportunity to teach a fourth grade classroom. In addition to my many years of experience teaching guitar and ukulele, I have also completed up to level 8 of the RCM vocal exams, and completed the basic and intermediate RCM theory exams.
Most Dedicated Musician Award (2020)
BC Performing Arts Provincial Winner (2021)
I have been involved in the performing arts for as long as I can remember. I have had the privilege to perform in many vocal festivals, including winning the BC Performing Arts Provincial Festival in the musical theatre category in 2021. I was also awarded the Most Dedicated Musician Award in my hometown of Sqaumish BC. Most importantly I have years of teaching experience and a passion for teaching guitar and ukulele. I have worked with hundreds of students and have loved every minute!
