Music has always been one of the most important parts of my life. From a young age, I had the privilege of learning how to express my passion through the piano. Music is everywhere, whether it’s the rhythm when we tap our fingers or the hum of a tune while walking. It’s a language that connects us to emotions and to each other. My hope is for everyone to experience music in the same joyful way I do. Many people feel unsure about their ability to play music and may think it's beyond their reach, which is why I focus on creating a positive, encouraging environment. I want my students to not only learn the technical aspects of playing piano but to truly love music for what it is and understand how it can bring joy into our lives.
I believe that the key to progress is interest, and I always take the time to learn what kinds of music my students are passionate about. Whether it's a favorite song or a specific genre, I use that as a starting point for their lessons. I understand that each student progresses at their own pace, and I am patient and supportive, ensuring that they have all the time they need to reach their goals. Together, we will build a strong musical foundation and develop a lasting love for music that will bring joy to their lives for years to come.
I began my musical journey at the age of six, starting with the violin. I joined my school's orchestra and was proud to be the youngest violinist in the first violin section. At the age of eight, I began piano lessons at a local music school in Hong Kong, where I studied for nearly a decade. By the age of seventeen, I achieved Grade 8 in piano with ABRSM and Grade 5 in music theory when I was just thirteen. My training helped me develop a strong foundation in both technique and musical expression.
From a young age, I’ve had a deep connection with music. I joined my school orchestra as a violinist at just seven years old, which opened my eyes to the beauty of making music with others. This experience helped me understand that music is not just a solo activity, it’s a shared experience that brings people together. As I continued my musical journey, I had the privilege of learning from a highly experienced teacher who had taught piano for over 20 years. Her guidance shaped my understanding of both the technical and expressive sides of playing. Along the way, I also discovered the joy of collaborating with others through music. I had the opportunity to accompany my classmates during the recorder competition at a music festival, and I realized how much fun it is to perform together. I also participated in a four-hand piano competition, where I got to play alongside a friend. These experiences solidified my belief that music is not just about personal achievement, it’s about the joy of sharing and creating something beautiful with others. While playing piano brings me great joy, I’ve also developed a strong technical foundation, earning my ABRSM Grade 8 qualification, which has strengthened my skills as both a performer and a teacher.
