Teaching Philosophy

As a performer of both classical and electric guitar, I have explored a wide variety of musical genres—from classical to rock and folk. This diversity has taught me that each student has their own unique musical journey. For that reason, my teaching approach is not limited to technique or theory (although those are certainly covered), but focuses on guiding each individual through their creative and musical discovery.

Throughout my years as an educator, I’ve had the pleasure of working with people of all ages and levels, always with the same belief: to teach with empathy, respect, and enthusiasm. I am committed to my students not only as a teacher, but as a partner in their journey—adapting to their goals, challenges, and inspirations.

If you choose to begin this path with me, you won’t just learn to play an instrument. You’ll learn to listen, to create, to interpret—and above all, to enjoy music as an extension of yourself.

Musical Education

I have attended the following schools earning the following degrees:
-University of Chile- Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Musical Performance
-University Arcis of Chile- Fine Arts
-Berklee College- Jazz Improvitation certificate (Coursera)
-Master Classes with Roland Dyens, Patrick Roux, Carlos Perez, Luis Orlandini,Ernesto Quezada, Romilio Orellana and Ichiro Suzuky.

Music is more than an art form: it's a bridge that connects worlds, emotions, and generations. Since the age of six, the guitar has been my lifelong companion, guiding me from my hometown of Temuco to the stages and classrooms where I now share my passion.

I received my professional training at the University of Chile, where I had the privilege of studying with esteemed teachers such as Ximena Matamoros and Luis Orlandini, and refining my craft through masterclasses with international artists like Roland Dyens and the Canadian Guitar Quartet. Beyond formal education, what defines me as a musician is my deep dedication to every note, every style, and every musical story I have the honour to share.

Special Skills and Training

Throughout my childhood, I was always surrounded by exceptional teachers and individuals who inspired me to pursue the path of education. I had the privilege of living with an aunt who was a dedicated educational psychologist her entire life. I watched her every day, admiring the way she taught her students with care and devotion. Later, during my time at university, my guitar professors guided me and provided me with the tools I needed to carry forward this deep passion for keeping music alive through teaching. I am also the proud father of a beautiful 7-year-old daughter, who shines a little more each day as she learns about life, art, and music. She constantly reminds me of the transformative power of learning and the importance of supporting every step of that journey with love and patience.

Policies

1. Cancellation Policy

Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy

A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy

Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy

Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period

There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
